Earlier this month, a team of five from BabelQuest converged on Chipping Norton to tackle Rough Runner in the name of our chosen charity, Homeless Oxfordshire.

If you’re not familiar with Rough Runner, we’re sure you’d recognise the classic obstacle course shows that have inspired it. On Saturday 18th May, a team of five from BabelQuest braved the 10km ‘Gladiators’-style run to raise money and awareness for our chosen charity, Homeless Oxfordshire.

Becky Murphy, Gem Latimer, Lizzie Griffiths, Janice Hewitt and her partner Ben answered the call to action, joining a crowd of hundreds in crawling through muddy puddles, dodging rotating arms, and tackling the travelator across the usually idyllic village of Great Tew. David Beckham and Thierry Henry were rumoured to be amongst those partaking, as was Becky’s eight-year-old son, who threw himself (literally) into the children’s Rascals course.

As a reminder, this was all in aid of raising money for Homeless Oxfordshire, our company charity of the year. This kicks off a string of fundraising events we plan to do throughout this year to raise as much money as possible for a cause that really resonates with the team here at BabelQuest.

Homeless Oxfordshire also has events planned in and around Oxfordshire for the rest of this year which you can see by taking a look at their Instagram (@homelessoxfordshire).

This year, we set ourselves the ambitious target of raising £500.00 for Oxfordshire’s homeless. We haven’t quite achieved this yet, but our JustGiving page is still open, so if you’d be willing to reach into your pockets to help us support the men and women living and sleeping on Oxfordshire’s streets, we’d be truly grateful. You can donate here.

This was my third year completing Rough Runner with the BabelQuest team for charity and whilst it certainly isn’t easy, it’s a great way to challenge yourself and work as a team. Beating the travelator and crossing the finish line is such a great feeling! Gem Latimer, Inbound Strategist, BabelQuest
