How to Clean Multi-Checkbox Data Without Data Loss

If you’ve ever wrestled with HubSpot workflows to update multi-checkbox properties, you know the "delete-and-rebuild" dance. It was messy, prone to error, and frankly, a massive waste of time. The wait is over. HubSpot finally launched a dedicated "Remove" function for multi-checkbox values.

The Old Way (The "Faffy" Workflow)

Previously, if you wanted to remove "Option A" but keep "Option B & C," your workflow looked like this:

  1. Clear all property values entirely.

  2. Re-add the values you actually wanted to keep.

  3. Cross your fingers that no data was lost in the split second between steps.

The New Way (The Clean Hack)

You can now target specific values for removal while leaving the rest of the data untouched. It’s surgical, safe, and saves you from building logic-heavy workarounds.

Why this is a win:

  • Data Integrity: No more "ghost" periods where a property is empty.

  • Simplicity: Reduces workflow actions from 2+ steps down to one.

  • Scalability: Perfect for managing subscription preferences, product interests, or tag-based segmentation.
