How to Close a Pop-out CTA After a Form Submission to Improve User Experience

Enhance user experience by automatically closing HubSpot pop-out CTAs after form submissions.

Pop-out calls to action (CTAs) instantly grab attention on your website and make it easier for users to take the next step, especially when using forms. They stand out from the rest of the page, reducing distractions and focusing the user's attention on a key action.

However, one disadvantage can be that previously, in HubSpot, users had to manually close the CTA's after submitting an embedded form. Although this doesn't seem like a big deal,  having an automatically closing pop-out CTAs can enhance the user experience by preventing frustration and keeping the browsing flow smooth.

If a pop-up lingers too long or blocks important content, users may abandon the page out of annoyance. It also signals respect for the user’s experience, making them more likely to interact with your brand rather than dismiss it.

With HubSpot's latest update, within the settings, once a form has been submitted the pop-out will automatically close, giving a better website user experience.

Automatically close CTA

  1. In your HubSpot account, go to Marketing > Lead Capture > CTAs.
  2. In the upper right-hand corner, click Create CTA. You'll be presented with options for different CTA types. Choose Pop-up box.
  3. Configure display triggers and rules:
    1. Determine when and how your pop-out CTA will appear.
    2. Specify which pages or sections of your website the pop-out CTA should appear on. You can target specific URLs, URL prefixes, or even all pages. Consider the relevance of the offer to the content on those pages.
    3. Decide how often the pop-out CTA should appear to a visitor.
  4. In the CTA editor, navigate to the section where you can add a form. You'll have the option to either select an existing HubSpot form or create a new one.
  5. Under the thank you section, make sure you toggle 'Close after submission'. This tells HubSpot to automatically close the pop-out CTA once the user successfully submits the form.
  6. Publish your CTA .

By following these steps, you can effectively create and implement HubSpot pop-out CTAs that not only grab attention but also provide a smooth and user-friendly experience by automatically closing after form submission. This small but significant improvement can contribute to higher conversion rates and a more positive perception of your website.
