HubSpot Social: How to track personal branding in HubSpot

Use this format to effortlessly track your personal branding efforts and report on results.

Feeling overwhelmed by tracking your personal branding efforts on HubSpot? Encouraging your team to engage and track their contributions can be tough. But don't worry, we've got you covered.

Tracking your personal branding activities is essential for understanding your impact and fine-tuning your strategy. Whether you're a marketing manager aiming to boost team engagement or an individual wanting to stand out online, these steps are here to simplify things for you.

  1. To begin, navigate to the settings section in HubSpot and scroll down to "Tracking and Analytics." Click on "Tracking URLs" and select "Create Tracking URL."
  2. Enter the URL you need to track.
  3. Select the campaign. If you haven't already, then we would recommend creating one titled 'personal branding'.
  4. When creating the tracking URL, select "Organic Social" as the source, and specify the platform, such as LinkedIn.
  5. In the term field, use the individual's name, like "Bridget," to easily identify their contributions.
  6. For content, we'd advise differentiating between posts and comments to gain granular insights into engagement.

Once the parameters are set, create as many tracking URLs as needed for various team members and platforms. This allows you to monitor each individual's impact and the effectiveness of different platforms.

Top tip: Reporting

With tracking URLs set up, it's time to tap into HubSpot's reporting features for actionable insights. Generate reports to spot team members using tracking codes effectively. Analyse the data to pinpoint who's driving the most traffic with their personal branding efforts. Plus, compare whether posts or comments work better for achieving your goals.

  1. Navigate to the reporting section in HubSpot and select "Reports" from the drop-down menu. Choose "Traffic" along the navigation bar and click on "UTM Parameters."
  2. Within the UTM Parameters section, filter your data based on the date range and frequency of tracking. Locate the "UTM Parameter" option and choose "Term." Scroll down to the bottom of the report and select the specific terms (employee names) you want to include.
  3. In the top report section, you'll see the data reflected based on the selected terms. Here, you can review the overall sessions generated by each employee's personal branding efforts.
  4. Repeat the process for content-based reporting. Within the UTM Parameters section, select "Content" and choose either "Post" or "Comment" based on your preference.

Once you've customised the report to your specifications, save it for future reference and analysis.

By following these steps, you're not just crunching numbers—you're unlocking the power to understand your team's personal branding efforts on a whole new level. With insightful reports at your fingertips, you can see the impact of each team member's contributions and make informed decisions to fine-tune your strategy.
