How to use HubSpot's new Data Studio

This studio is all about turning fragmented, siloed data into actionable insights, making data ingestion and manipulation far more intuitive.

What is Data Studio?

Data Studio is designed to centralise and empower your data management. It allows you to create datasets, enhance contacts, and connect various data sources, ultimately powering more robust reports and workflows. For those familiar with Operations Hub, you might notice the shift – the Operations Hub is now essentially the Data Hub.

Key Features and Why It's Truly Magical:

  • Report on External Data Without CRM Sync: One of the coolest features is the ability to report on financial data or other external information without having to sync it directly to your CRM. This offers incredible flexibility and reduces data duplication.
  • Connect Diverse Data Sources: Data Studio makes it easy to connect external sources like Google Sheets or upload files to import data. It also allows you to continuously add data from a wide range of apps using data sync.
  • Enhance and Segment Contacts: You can enhance your HubSpot contacts by selecting segments (what used to be called lists) and then add custom columns and filters to refine your data, such as filtering contacts by "favorite food".
  • Dataset Actions: Once you've created a dataset, you have powerful options: create a new segment, sync it to your CRM (especially useful for external data), export it, or use it to power reports and workflows.
  • Guided Experience and Use Cases: Data Studio guides you through the process and provides example use cases, making it accessible even for first-time users.

To get your hands on this powerful tool, you'll need to turn on the Data Studio beta in your HubSpot portal. This feature is set to save time, save money, and connect everything together, offering a much more intuitive way to play around with data.
