How to Delete Form Submissions in HubSpot

Remove unwanted submissions to ensure accurate analytics.

Are you struggling with cluttered form data that's skewing your marketing analytics? From test submissions that inflate your numbers to spam entries from bots, there's likely a few submissions you need to remove.

This guide walks you through the process of permanently removing unwanted form submissions in HubSpot, ensuring your team has access to accurate and reliable data for analysis and decision-making.

Good to know before you begin:

  • You must be a Super Admin or have specific "Delete form submissions" permissions
  • Deletion is permanent and submissions cannot be restored but the records created from it will remain (including populated properties)
  • The submission will be removed from the record's activity timeline
  • All relevant analytics and reporting data will automatically update after deletion
  • Deleting a submission will not unenrol contacts from workflows unless you've enabled the option "When a contact no longer meets the enrolment conditions, remove them from this workflow?"

How to Delete Individual Form Submissions: Step-by-step

  1. In your HubSpot account, navigate to Marketing > Forms
  2. Hover over the form name, then click Actions > View Submissions
  3. Find the submission you want to remove and hover over it
  4. Click Delete
  5. In the confirmation dialog box, click Delete again to permanently remove the submission

Note: Each user can delete up to 200 form submissions per day, provided they have Super Admin or Delete form submissions permissions.

Marketing teams often use this feature after conducting form testing prior to campaign launches. For example, when you're preparing to launch a lead generation campaign, you'll typically test the form functionality with multiple submissions. Once testing is complete, removing these test entries ensures accurate conversion tracking and prevents confusion during reporting.

This clean data approach allows for precise ROI calculations and helps maintain stakeholder trust in the analytics provided.
